  • Renée drove cross-country from Maryland to Los Angeles with her husband and two cats.
  • Throughout her life, Renée has visited various locations where they've filmed movies and television shows, such as JJ's Diner in LA ("Parks & Recreation"), Cheers bar in Boston, Katz's Deli in NY ("When Harry Met Sally"), and the Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit in Saint Maarten.
  • She has also danced in period costume at ballrooms in Newport, RI ("The Gilded Age") and at Versailles in France.

Experience

Renée Camus is a writer and editor with a passion for pop culture, art, and travel. A multi-year attendee of the JoCo Cruise "nerd boat," she performed with John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants, and authored a book chapter on "Joss Whedon and the Geek Musical" for the textbook "The Routledge Companion to the Contemporary Musical." She's been published in Los Angeles Magazine, Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, New York Observer, and The Toast, among others. After writing for sister publications Looper, Nicki Swift, and Women, Renée is delighted to move on to an editor position at Explore. When she's not writing or editing, Renée teaches and choreographs English country dances and obsesses about romcoms and Jane Austen film adaptations.

Education

Renée has a bachelor's degree in musical theatre from the University of Michigan, a master's degree in dance from American University in D.C., and a certificate in journalism from UCLA.
